I am constantly developing and broadening my skills in the visual arts, and progressing with every new piece I make. Years of practice and experimentation helped make me a detailed artist with multiple fine-art awards and pieces showcased in galleries. However, everyone has a starting point, from a simple figure sketch to a small doodle on the back of a math notebook. Sometimes, I'm pleased with the overall composition and aesthetic of a piece. Other times, I think I can do better. Both are good, because I learn from my failures and my successes

WORKING WITH NEW MEDIUMS
"Green"- Highlighter and Ink (click image to view description)
I love to venture outside my comfort zone and explore new materials and art styles. Recently, I've started using regular school stationery to draw mundane pictures.

COVID-19
How has the spread of COVID-19 increased racism against East Asians?
Since the virus spread to the U.S., there have been numerous reports of hate crimes against East Asians in subway stations and on busy streets. The issue is being ignored, pushed to the sidelines, or simply not known of. I created this piece in hopes that it will make my audience aware of this discrimination and encourage them to be mindful of their actions and words during these difficult times. If you would like to know more about the hidden meanings and symbolism of this painting, visit @lasyakanagala_art for an in-depth explanation.

“Everyone discusses my art and pretends to understand, as if it were necessary to understand, when it is simply necessary to love.”

You can check my Instagram, @lasyakanagala_art for a full description of my portfolio's guiding question.

The fear of being harmed by racial stereotypes and racially labeled by society

The feeling of panic and dread situated from being placed in an unfamiliar scenario or environment
